TU Delft signs partnership agreement with top Turkish university
10 April 2007 by M&C Press release – Delft University of Technology and the Middle East Technical University (Ankara) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday April 12, formalising agreements about the development of a joint curriculum at the Master’s level, joint PhD studentships and joint research programmes. The Middle East Technical University (METU) is located in the Turkish capital of Ankara. It has worked with TU Delft on education and research for some years. This collaboration was first formalised in 2004, in an agreement at institutional level. Since then a number of concrete initiatives have been developed to give further form to cooperation in education and research. The two universities now wish to refine their collaborative venture still further, to include specific initiatives in which both institutions regard each other as preferred partners. METU’s chairman, Prof. Ural Akbulut, will visit TU Delft on Thursday 12 April to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. This document will lay out agreements for the development of joint curriculums at the Master’s level, joint PhD studentships and joint research programmes. The agreement is in keeping with TU Delft’s aspirations to enter into long-term partnerships with leading technical universities in Turkey. One of its aims is to help boost the number of graduate engineers and technical-scientific lecturers in Turkey. Another is to help achieve the desired intake of science and technology students in the Netherlands. |
